MEET FORMAT:
The meet will be swum as timed-finals.  Each session will be seeded by computer based on positive check-in at the beginning of each session.  Swimmers are required to check in with the clerk of course at the beginning of each session.  ANY SWIMMER WHO DOES NOT CHECK IN WILL BE SCRATCHED FROM THE MEET.  Heat sheets will be posted around the pool deck.  Coaches will be able to pick up heat sheets for each event at the control office.  Saturday will be a pentathlon event where prizes will be awarded for the highest point total in each age/gender.  Sunday will follow standard YMCA entry limits (3 ind & 2 relays) with a non-scoring “fun” relay on Sunday AM.  The relay is a graduated relay where one class “D” will swim a 50 leg, a “B” will do a 100 leg, and an “A” will swim a 150 leg.  

SITE:
The Malden High School Competition Pool is a 6-lane, 25-yard pool with seven-foot-wide lanes and non-turbulent lane lines.  The finish end of the pool is 12 feet deep; the turn end of the pool is 3 feet deep.  Spectator seating for 100 with ample space for folding chairs is available.  The pool is located inside Malden HS “B” Building, 77 Salem Street,  Malden,  MA 02148.  Please enter through the main entrance on Holden Street.  Directions may be found later in this document.   

COURSE:
Short course yards (25 yards).

ELIGIBILITY:
All contestants must be bona fide full privilege members of their YMCA for at least 30 days prior to competing.  All rules that govern YMCA swimming will be enforced.  Please consult www.YMCASwimmingandDiving.org for more details on YMCA rules.  

ENTRY INFORMATION:
Entries will be accepted on and after November 15, 2007.  All entries will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis with payment expected no later than 5 days after acceptance of entry.  Please mail payment and hard-copy of your file along with coaches contact information to the Melrose YMCA Sharks, 497 Main St. Melrose, MA 02176  

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES:
Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chairperson (Leslie Joslin) at lesjos@yahoo.com.  Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file.  For email entries, payment and hardcopy of the entry must be received within five (5) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of receipt of the email entry.  If payment is received within five (5) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, of the email entry, the email receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  If payment is received more than five (5) days, excluding Sundays and holidays, after the email entry, the payment receipt date will be considered the date of entry.  

ENTRY LIMITS:
Athletes may enter and swim in a maximum of 5 events per day on Saturday and 3 individual and 2 relays on Sunday  

ENTRY TIME UPDATES:
Entry times may be updated until 7 days prior to the first day of the meet.  No new entries will be accepted after the November 30th entry deadline.  Entry time updates should be sent via email to the entry chairperson at lesjos@yahoo.com. Entry time updates must be sent as Hy-Tek format CL2 files with updated times.  (New entries will be automatically excluded.)

ENTRY FEES:
Electronic entries: $4.00 for individual events, $12.00 for relays.  Non-electronic entries: $5.00 for individual events, $16.00 for relays.  There is NO Swimmer Participation Fee. THERE IS NO REASON TO PAY EXTRA FOR THE MEET.   Use TM LITE by following this link: http://www.hy-tekltd.com/downloads.html  It is required for YNE’s and will make your life easier in the long run.  Email Head Coach Rick Menard (melrosesharks@aol.com) if you need help with this program.  

ENTRY TIMES:
All entries must be specified in short-course yard (25-yard pool) times.  Meter times must be converted to yard times. (Entries with “NO TIME” will be rejected…make a guess!.)  

ENTRY CUTS:
Entry cuts, if necessary, will be made by the date of receipt.  Teams will be notified that they have been accepted or cut from the meet within seven days of receipt of entry.  If the meet becomes oversubscribed, entries will be taken on a first come first serve basis.  

RELAYS:
Relays are not limited but only 1 per team will score per event.  All relay swimmers must be officially entered in the meet.   25-YARD EVENTS: 25-yard events will start at the deep end of the pool.  All starts for relays in the shallow end will be IN WATER STARTS only.  

PROGRAMS:
$5.00 per session and are available after the meet has been seeded for that session.

ADMISSION:
$1.00 per session.  

WARMUPS:  T
eams will be assigned warm-up lanes after all entries are received. You may do one-way sprints in your own lane at your discretion.  

SAFETY:
Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the shallow end at any time No shaving is permitted at the competition site. No glass containers are permitted within the facility. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups. No camera cell phones are permitted in the locker rooms.

RULES:
2007 USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.  Decisions by the meet referee will be final unless a written protest is lodged within 30 minutes of the heat swum.  

TIME TRIALS:
Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows.  Time trials are $5.00 for individual events and $20.00 for relays.  

DECK ACCESS:
Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff are permitted on the pool deck.   

SCORING:
Standard scoring for top 16 applies.  There will be a special award for the athlete that has the highest point total in the pentathlon on Saturday  

AWARDS:
Ribbons will be awarded to the top six finishers in each individual event, and top three finishers in each relay event.  

FOOD:
A concession stand will be in operation for the duration of the meet located on the second floor of the building.  

EQUIPMENT VENDOR:
A swimming equipment vendor will be selling suits, goggles, and other accessories for the duration of the meet.  

MISCELLANEOUS:
Melrose YMCA Sharks assume no responsibility for lost or stolen property.  Pets of any kind and smoking (MGL tobacco regulations apply on all school grounds) are not permitted within the facility.

There is parking available in several surrounding lots and on the street.  A parking map will follow with warm-up schedule and entry confirmation.

DIRECTIONS:
The Malden High School pool is located in the “A” building of the Malden HS located on Holden Street in Malden.  The pool entrance is located across from the hockey rink.  Once entering the building turn left and proceed down the stairs.  
FROM THE SOUTH:

Merge onto I-95 N toward BOSTON.

 

Merge onto I-93 N via EXIT 12 toward BOSTON.

 

Take EXIT 29 toward EVERETT / RT-28 N / MALDEN.

 

ramp becomes MA-28 N / FELLSWAY W.

 

Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto REVERE BEACH PKWY / MA-16 E.

 

Take the ramp toward WELLINGTON STATION.

 

Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto CORPORATION WAY.

 

CORPORATION WAY becomes COMMERCIAL ST.

 

Turn RIGHT onto CENTRE ST / MA-60 E.

FROM THE NORTH:

Take the FELLSWAY WEST / RT-28 exit- EXIT 33- toward WINCHESTER.

 

Turn SLIGHT RIGHT onto MA-28 S / FELLSWAY W. Pass through 1 roundabout.

 

Turn LEFT onto MA-60 / SALEM ST. Continue to follow MA-60 E.

 

Turn LEFT onto HOLDEN ST.
